Now, if you’re one of those who have actually seen the Sword Art Online series, you are either really excited for the opportunity to play SAO, or terrified that what happened in the anime might actually happen during IBM’s alpha-test. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the premise, players in SAO were unable to Log Out or remove the VR system (aka. Nerve Gear) until the 100th level of the game was beaten, meaning that the thousands of players in the game were all unable to return to the real world and were stuck in a fantasy RPG world full of monsters, quests, and challenges galore.
Luckily, if you’re reading this page, you’re probably an otaku whose been waiting for their opportunity to become kings of the virtual world. To the 208 lucky participants who will be selected for “The Beginning”, we wish you safe travels, and will try to control our overflowing jealously until we too can become virtual overlords, courtesy of IBM Japan.
